[RELEASE] September 22, 2021 - Calgary, Alberta, Canada - Madison Savilow, founder of Expedition Air has been selected as one of five finalists in a new Diversity In ClimateTech program for underrepresented founders tackling our world’s most pressing climate crisis.

Diversity In ClimateTech is powered by Chloe Capital and Cornell University, and supported by the NYS Energy Research & Development Authority (NYSERDA) to recruit, educate, inspire and support the growth of companies led by Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) and women founders on the forefront of clean energy innovations.

Expedition Air was founded on the idea that every product consumers interact with should enable a low carbon future. A spin-out from NRG COSIA Carbon XPRIZE X-Factor Winner, Carbon Upcycling Technologies, Expedition Air produces advanced solid additives derived from greenhouse emissions and cheaply available solids for use in the consumer products industry.

“I’ve been following Expedition Air and the leadership team at Carbon Upcycling for a while now,” said Elisa Miller-Out, co-founder and managing partner at Chloe Capital. “One of the best parts of my job is witnessing the innovation that spawns from intelligent people, with creative ideas that have an actual impact on our world.”

Madison Savilow is founder of Expedition Air. She started her career in carbon tech as the Chief of Staff at Carbon Upcycling Technologies and competed in the NRG COSIA Carbon XPRIZE. In 2019, Madison started creating consumer products from captured carbon materials and later founded Expedition Air. She spoke at TEDxYouth@VictoriaPark on the importance of maintaining hope during the climate crisis and is the Curator for Calgary Hub of the World Economic Forum's Global Shapers.

“Each consumer product made by Expedition Air acts as a carbon sink and, since 2019, the company has had over 25 product development collaborations,” said Savilow. “One of the many reasons we started Expedition Air was to demystify carbontech for the average consumer. We’re now working with large consumer brands to integrate our captured carbon materials into their existing supply chains.”

Diversity In ClimateTech is designed to support the capitalization efforts of diverse entrepreneurs. Finalists for this program were selected from over 300 applicants from around the world. Only five applicants were selected to participate in the program. At least one founder will receive a Chloe Capital investment of up to $250,000.

The other founders selected for the program include: Dorrit Lowsen, President & Co-Founder, Change Finance, Alexandria, VA; Lisa Altieri, Founder & CEO, BrightAction, Palo Alto, CA; Martha Montoya, Founder & CEO, Agtools Inc., Irvine, CA; and SaLisa Berrien; Founder & CEO, COI Energy, Tampa, FL / Binghamton, NY / Brooklyn, NY.

“Each of these women will now travel from across the country to join Chloe Capital, and our partners at Cornell University and NYSERDA for a 48-hour fundraising experience,” said Myneco Ramirez, Chloe Capital’s Chief Experience Officer. In addition to Chloe Capital making an investment in at least one high-growth, women-led climate tech company, the program will open the door to the firm’s global network of investors, corporate clients and non dilutive capital.”
